Application Process

  • Step 1
    Qualifications Recognition
    • when applying to study in the USA, bear in mind that the universities and institutes that you apply to must be certified by the Student Exchange Visitor Program.
    • Start at least nine to twelve months prior to the academic year in which you wish to attend a college or university.
    • After you have selected the schools you wish to attend, contact each one for an applicationform and more information on international student admission.
  • Step 2
    Admission Decision
    • US universities and colleges usually base their admission decisions on a student’s academic record and applicable test scores, such as TOEFL, the SAT or ACT.
    • If you are applying to graduate schools, additional exam scores, such as the GRE or GMAT, will be required. The fee for each application costs from US$35 to US$100.
    • Your test scores are sent directly to the schools to which you are applying. You will be asked to indicate the names of these schools when you register to take tests such as the SAT orACT.
  • Step 3
    Receive Acceptance Letters
    • After the application deadline, you will begin receiving letters from your chosen schools.
    • Pay Your Deposit: most universities require students to pay a deposit by a certain deadline inorder to reserve a place in the chosen class.
  • Step 4
    Visa Process
    • Your visa process starts when you receive Form I-20 from your college.
    • Though you can pay the SEVIS fee at any time during the application, it is strongly recommended that you pay the SEVIS I-901 fee before you start your US visa application.
    • After paying the SEVIS fee and getting a receipt, you can apply for a DS-160 visa form.
  • Step 5
    Financial Resources
    • Evidence of Financial Resources required for F1 Visa include tax returns (Form 16) and bank statements/passbook for the past three years.
    • Original pay/salary slips and letters of employment; statement from certified CA
    • Scholarship letter (if the applicant has received it); and the loan approval letter from the bank or relevant authority.
